20 years ago my grandfather Leslie Gillott received a Royal invitation to return back to the beaches of Normandy where he landed and fought for our country, taking part in a walk of honour with his fellow soldiers. At the time he was suffering from Osteoporosis and lung cancer.Our stepfather Martin Ryan stood by his while he was honoured with a bravery medal 🏅 for his services to 🇬🇧. Today we remember and pay tribute to the all lost their lives in battle and to the 300 veterans who are still alive today on the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
