Went to @angelikafilmcenter to see 2 movies tonight: @latenightmovie & @Booksmart. Such great flicks and so great that Angelika had both. But while I was watching, I couldn’t help thinking “Why are they showing at an art house cinema? They’re great movies but they’re not LAST YEAR AT MARIENBAD or 8 1/2. LATE NIGHT is a really good version of a lot of romantic-y comedies I’ve seen and BOOKSMART reminded me a lot of SUPERBAD, the movie that made Beanie Feldstein’s brother Jonah Hill famous years ago. Why aren’t they just showing at the regular theatres? Then I realized...they’re about women. They’re about women and that somehow takes them out of the mainstream? (shrug) We’re a weird society sometimes, aren’t we? (shrug) Well...at least we’re a weird society that makes some great movies. Go see them.Counting Crows Instagram: Went to @angelikafilmcenter to see 2 movies tonight: @latenightmovie & @Booksmart. Such great flicks and so great that Angelika had both.
